Go. Go & Wander Aimlessly
We need more hours of aimless wandering
Digging to China in our backyards
Smearing yellow dandelions on our arms and legs
Making magic stew with soil and Earth worms.
We need grass stains.
Take a walk along the river by our house
Without checking the time
Stopping for any pocket-worthy pebble
or dragonfly
Peering into broken glass windows
Of haunted houses
And down old drinking wells
Imagining old families
With many children
And creepy closets.
We need to race each other to tumbleweed finish lines
Shimmy across moss covered stones
ankle deep in cold streams
Gasps and giggles.
Soggy socks and muddy soles
Going home with belly rumbles
Pressing maple leaves between the pages of heavy books
Until when we next remember
To open them.
